Organic Curcuma in the new Rooftop Farming "Spar Regionalbeet"

On 21 October 2021, the new Rooftop Farming Partner Spar and the Junge Wilden Gemüsebauern presented its new products organic turmeric and ginger.

Fresh organic turmeric and ginger from Styria are not only available at Spar, but will now also grow in one of the 19 raised beds of JOANNEUM RESEARCH LIFE's Rooftop Farming Project at a breezy height of 60m above ground.

"Fresh food directly from the region protects the climate, provides added value and supports regional agriculture", says Christoph Holzer, Managing Director of SPAR Styria and Southern Burgenland.

Franz Prettenthaler, Director of LIFE- Institute for Climate, Energy and Society, was pleased about the new Rooftop Farming cooperation with Spar and highlighted the importance of food cultivation on urban rooftops as a vision for climate protection and climate mitigation.
